How the story begins
Chapter 1: Setting Out with the Basket
Once upon a time there was a kind little girl who always wore a red hooded cape that her grandmother had made for her, so everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood. One morning her mother packed a basket with fresh bread, a jar of jam and a bunch of flowers. “Grandmother is not feeling well,” she said. “Take her this basket, it will do her good. Walk nicely, stay on the path and don’t stop to talk to strangers.” Little Red Riding Hood promised, kissed her mother goodbye and set off into the forest, where Grandmother lived in a little cottage under three big oak trees.
