Chapter 1: The Nest in the Banyan Tree
Long ago, in a great green forest in India, two crows built their nest high up in a giant banyan tree. They were very happy there, and soon the mother crow laid three speckled eggs. But at the foot of the tree, in a dark hollow between the roots, there lived a big black snake.
